This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. Well I drudged through this thing till the end which took me 5 days. In the end it could pit the Nighthawks and t Those who love vampire stories of all kinds will enjoy this book. But I won't bother wasting my time reading it. It certainly won't be published before 2009. The entire series has been reprinted.
My vampire cops are as likely to be protecting vampires from human predators than the other way around. Despite also being a wirter of rimance novels, she keeps the love interest and sex play at a steady simmer rather than a full boil, which allows characters to develop unexpectedly. Martina, a vampire who works at Vegas' Six Road Hotel and Casino, wants to see the Nighthawk line die out and she will use any means at her disposal to see that is happens. The enforcers of these laws are the Nighthawks, who are even more monstrous than vampires. The Council makes the laws that govern vampire security and the Enforcers make sure that all Strigori follow the rules if they want to live in an undead fashion. In the end it could pit the Nighthawks and the Enforcers against each other if ancient scrolls are opened and read. This vampire world is ruled by the Laws of the Blood, some archaic decrees handed down by very old vampires, wherein any human is either food or a slave, and maintaining their existence secret paramount.
But mortal vampire hunter Jebel Haven is also on the trail of the missing vampire — but not to rescue him. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future. And then there is slimy ass Geoff who is happy about this turn of events because he wants Char to himself. Oh but wait it gets even better. Yes, Jebel and Char may deserve better than what happens to them in this book, but these books are not romances! Martina, a vampire who works at Vegas' Six Road Hotel and Casino, wants to see the Nighthawk line die out and she will use any means at her disposal to see that is happens.
Throw in a dragon and a large group of vampires running amok and you have a fairly good picture of the plot. The ending of this book is a cliffhanger. The perfect place for an Enforcer to take a brief holiday. In book 3 they make this big deal about the main characters being soulmates but that's only until the change and then it doesn't matter anymore. With his mentor - the very beautiful, very ancient Nighthawk known only as Valentine - he's driven over from L. They are ready to go on a hunt for fresh blood, but they must await the leadership of their Enforcer, Selim.
What seems to be a chance meeting in Las Vegas at the opening of the New Silk Road hotel, is more than it seems. In Vegas, the pair finds their relationship threatened by two other vampires. She travels whenever she can, loves history, loud music, movies, good co Susan Sizemore's life and interests include such varied activities as medieval costuming and embroidery, being a chef, and working in the defense industry. It is more plot driven than the sexy Prime vampire series. I really liked the reunion of so many of the characters from her other books! The story takes place in Las Vegas, which has a large vampire population, including those who have become addicted to the neon light that is a permanent feature of Las Vegas life. Cuz I sure would like to find out how the situation between Valentine, Geoff, Char and Jebel gets resolved. Thank goodness I'm done with the books I'd already bought and don't have to read anymore of this crap.
The stunning egoism of everyone in this little world is coherent. Susan Sizemore has created a believable vampire community participating yet hidden within human society. Nighthawk Enforcers Char McCairn, and her human lover Jebel Haven arrive in Las Vegas to attend the wedding of a former vampire companion to a mortal. I don't re-read that series. The council's 'enforcers' are a specialized line of vampires called nighthawks.
I don't know why this one wasn't continued. A museum containing what at first seems to be reproductions of vampire historical relics, has much more power than observed. For the most part this volume can be read independently of its predecessors. A Laws of the Blood story! Char and her lover, Jebel, are investigating vampire troubles in Las Vegas. Char and Jebel are heroes and they will make whatever sacrifices are necessary. Unfortunately, I first read this fifth book in the series in 2003. She has opened enought threads that it is difficult to predict what she will do from volume to volume.
At times I couldn't tell which character was speaking, what was going on or why. Personally, I can't wait to read the next book. Now, because he's had Valentine's blood, he is going to be force him to be Valentine's companion and lover because of the brainwashing compulsion that comes with the blood and companion bond. I rather liked that each series was independent of each other. Reclusive Nighthawk Valentine and potential Enforcer Geoff Sterling arrive in Las Vegas to check out their investment. What seems to be a chance meeting in Las Vegas at the opening of the New Silk Road hotel, is more than it seems. Nighthawk Enforcers Char McCairn, and her human lover Jebel Haven arrive in Las Vegas to attend the wedding of a former vampire companion to a mortal.
I highly recommend the series. Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books. All of Sizemore's books focus on these enforcers, but this is the first volume that is actually a sequel to the previous volume. All Enforcers come from the Nighthawk line of changed vampires, but many other vampires feel that these are no longer of their species and must be destroyed. A museum containing what at first seems to be reproductions of vampire historical relics, has much more power than observed. Geoff is the brand new nighthawk in book 1 that Valentine takes under her wing after is girlfriend is murdered and he starts the change to nighthawk.
